Does an SSL certificate protect my website?

You need to look at the browser bar before the domain name, where you will find either a Padlock Icon or HTTPS that represents that website is under SSL protection, and you can trust them.

An SSL generates a 256-bit encryption level to protect your data. So if you find either of them, you can say that your website is protected.
